Artist Statement

I have been painting all my life and come from a family of Artists.

" As a local landscape painter, I have been inspired by the raw power and natural beauty of the North Shore and Vancouver since 1995. Over time, my artistic journey has evolved to delve deeper into the abstract contrasts and nuances of nature.

My work continues to evolve as I become increasingly captivated by the fleeting moments of fractured light, line and color. I am drawn to capturing the essence of these ephemeral instances, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

But my artistic perspective is also deeply influenced by my passion for open water swimming. Immersing myself in the ocean has given me a unique vantage point, allowing me to experience the natural world from within. Being 'in' the water, surrounded bythe rhythms and textures of the sea has profoundly shaped my artistic vision.

My creative process in inherently interactive, characterized by a hands-on approach. I experiment with diverse techniques, layering paint, and employing palette knife to achieve unique textures- from dripping and scratching to mesh and plaster-like effects. This tactile approach allows me to balance the unpredictability of accidental manipulations with moments of careful deliberation, embracing the thrill of the creative unknown.

I like to call this process 'gong for a ride with the creative second' My aspiration is for my art to convey the vibrant, captivating enchantment and movement that I find in nature, igniting a sense of wonder in all who experience it. Through my paintings, I hope to transport viewers to the mesmerizing world beneath the waves
